The G2 Search Guide to 'The successful interview'

You have passed the first hurdle and impressed the recruitment agency with your CV. You have proved to have all the requirements for the vacancy. Now you’re at interview stage and the interviewer will now be looking for the best personality for the job. Prepare to be in the interview for about an hour. It’s now up to you to show them what you’re made of, relax and be yourself.

We have put together list of helpful tips to consider pre interview:

• Aim to be 15 minutes early in order to prepare yourself mentally
• When introducing your self remembers to smile, maintain eye contact keep a calm positive attitude.
• Remember, be yourself at all times..

• Your language shows how you are feeling. Be aware of this and sit up straight in your chair with your hands clasped and resting on your lap. Sitting with both feet on the ground can stop that nervous foot swinging when your legs are crossed.
• Listen to the questions being asked and do not be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat a question again if you did not catch it all the first time. It would be less embarrassing than giving a totally wrong response.
• Show with confidence your strong points and don’t be afraid to point out any weaknesses as this shows you are aware of you of your qualities.
• If the interviewer asks you if you have any questions make sure you have relevant questions prepared.
• Never be negative about a past employer.
• Remember not to bring up salary at the first interview stage. Get a full understanding of the role and structure before financial negotiations.
